Congratulations to Professor Li-Chan Lin on Receiving a Medal from the Ministry of Health and Welfare

Professor Li-Chan Lin, the director of the Institute of Clinical and Community Health Nursing, is being awarded the Health and Welfare Professional Medal 2014 from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. She assisted the government in developing a survey for long-term care facilities, conducting long-term care professional training and establishing suburban area services, as well as participating in the planning stages of long-term care quality assurance.

Professor Lin specifically assisted the Ministry of Health and Welfare in research, design and implementation aspects of long term care such as:

1. Developing a survey for various types of long-term care facilities to obtain nationally consistent quality assessment standards.

2. Constructed six quality control indicators for critical long-term care facility issues including falls, restraint, pressure sores, infection control, unexpected re-admissions to acute care hospitals, and non-planned body weight change.

3. Participated in Level I, II, III training programs for long-term care professionals.

4. Assisted in the establishment and management of long-term care service in suburban area.

5. Assisted in the development of a multi-dimensional long-term care needs assessment inventory for long-term care quality assurance.

Professor Lin believes that applying research and knowledge to real world issues is of paramount importance and value. In receiving this award, she wishes to thank the Ministry of Health and Welfare for giving the opportunity to dedicate her professional work to the betterment of society. She holds great appreciation for National Yang-Ming University for providing its faculty an open academic environment for their own professional growth.
