Dr. Ying-Ying Yang Receives the 2013 Academia Sinica Research Award for Junior Research Investigators

Dr. Ying-Ying Yang , Faculty of Medicine of our University, received the 2013 Junior Research Investigators Award (Life Science Division) .This Award encourages junior researchers in Taiwan to publish papers of major contribution in their research fields. Dr. Yang won this Award by her outstanding publications in the researches of the cirrhosis and portal hypertensive syndrome.

Dr. Ying-Ying Yang's group devoted for years to investigate the basic and clinical pathophysiologies of the liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Portal hypertensive syndrome is an important complication of cirrhosis that both the pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic strategies are still need to be improved. Dr. Yang group's persistently updates their biochemical and genomic methodologies to explore the potential treatments for cirrhotic portal hypertensive syndrome in cirrhotic animals' model and patients. The originalities and well-organized study designs of Dr. Yang group's researches made their works quite practical and full of academic values. So, Dr. Yang group's got this award due to good quality of publication and outstanding teamwork.

Besides wishing to help cirrhotic patients with their scientific findings, Dr. Yang appreciated for the constant support of research teams and families.
